By the Red Church
The Church of Brethren community in Teplice has fascinated us their close bonds and absence of anonymity, which is familiar to other metropolitan churches. We attempted to reflect this closeness and civil intimacy into a new property when designing their prayer room on a lovely plot of land situated in an orchard. Part of the land in front of the church is a dedicated public space, which smoothly connects to a bus stop. At the back of the land, in the orchard, there is a space where summer camps are prepared for children. The prayer room was designed to be a single-storey room where the main hall is orientated against its longer wall, so that community meetings are more intimate. The building has a striking red gable facing the street, which partially inspired its name. There is another church on the street with the same name.
